Maureen Gallagher is a member of numerous premiere ensembles based in New York City, including Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestra of St. Luke’s (where she is co-principal), St. Luke’s Chamber Ensemble, and is principal violist of the New York City Ballet Orchestra.
Ms. Gallagher is also co-principal violist of the Mito Chamber Orchestra (Seiji Ozawa, music director) in Japan several weeks each year.
She is Artistic Coordinator of the Ullendorff Chamber Music series at DOROT in New York City, and performs at the Sebago-Long Lake Music Festival in Maine during the summer.
Ms. Gallagher has played as a guest artist with the Tokyo, Emerson, Orion, Cleveland, Brentano, and Miami String Quartets.
Teaching positions have included Carnegie Mellon University, Columbia University, Columbus StateUniversity in Georgia, University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and CUNY/Brooklyn College.
Ms. Gallagher performs on a viola made by Paolo Antonio Testore in Milan in 1743.
