Orpheus & Bomsori Kim Bach, Mendelssohn & Adolphus Hailstork

In the 2021/22 season, Bomsori performed Bruch's Concerto No.1 at the "Concerts in the Parks" in New York and at Bravo! Vail Festival with the New York Philharmonic and Jaap van Zweden. Other highlights were debuts with the San Francisco Symphony, the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra (Alain Altinoglu), the Danish National Symphony Orchestra (Fabio Luisi), the Tonkünstler Orchestra (Fabio Luisi), the NDR Radio Philharmonic (Manze) and the Singapore Symphony (Graf ).

Bomsori was the Focus Artist of the Rheingau Musik Festival 2021 and in the same year began a 5-year residency at the Gstaad Menuhin Festival as Menuhin's Heritage Artist.

Bomsori has had the privilege of performing under the direction of multiple conductors, including Fabio Luisi, Jaap van Zweden, Marin Alsop, Vasily Petrenko, Pablo Heras-Casado, Hannu Lintu, Sakari Oramo, John Storgårds, Andrey Boreyko, Giancarlo Guerrero with numerous leading orchestras, such as New York Philhramonic, Danish National Orchestra, Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, Moscow Symphony Orchestra, Montreal Symphony Orchestra, Belgian National Orchestra, Warsaw National Philharmonic Orchestra, NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover, Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, Camerata Salzburg, Munich Chamber Orchestra, Basel Chamber Orchestra amongst others.

Bomsori has appeared at numerous venues worldwide, such as Musikverein Golden Hall in Vienna, Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow, Philharmonic Hall in St. Petersburg, Finlandia Hall in Helsinki, the Herkulessaal and the Prinzregententheater in Munich, Berlin Philharmonic, Rudolfinum and Smetana Hall in Prague, Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York.

In addition to winning the 62nd ARD International Music Competition, Bomsori is a prize winner of the Tchaikovsky International Competition, Queen Elisabeth Competition, International Jean Sibelius Violin Competition, Joseph Joachim International Violin Competition Hannover, Montreal International Musical Competition, Sendai International Music Competition and the 15th International Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition. Bomsori received the 2018 Young Artist Award from the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Korean Music Association’s 2019 Young Artist Award. In 2020, she was presented with the 4th G.rium Artists Award by the Foundation Academia Platonica.

In June 2021 Bomsori released her first Deutsche Grammophon solo Album, Violin on Stage, with NFM Wroclaw Philharmonic and Giancarlo Guerrero.The duo album with pianist Rafał Blechacz, featuring works by Fauré, Debussy, Szymanowski and Chopin, was released in February 2019 by Deutsche Grammophon. The album won the Fryderyk Music Award for “Best Polish Album Abroad” for their DG recording of French and Polish repertoire.

Born in South Korea, Bomsori received a Bachelor degree at Seoul National University, where she studied with Young Uck Kim. She also earned her Master of Music Degree and Artist Diploma at The Juilliard School where she studied with Sylvia Rosenberg and Ronald Copes.

She performs on the Guarnerius del Gesù violin “ex-Moller,” Cremona, 1725, on extended loan through the generous efforts of The Samsung Foundation of Culture of Korea and The Stradivari Society of Chicago, Illinois.

Ms. Gendron is also a sought-after educator and clinician. She has been a member of the Toomai String Quintet, specializing in innovative educational outreach and community engagement, since 2009. Toomai, one of the original pilot ensembles in Carnegie Hall’s “Musical Connections” program, helped design composition and performance workshops with incarcerated men at Sing Sing Correctional Facility; has worked with student composers in the New York Philharmonic’s Very Young Composers Program and with NYC public school students through the “Midori and Friends” educational initiative; and presents at institutions across the U.S., ranging from grade school to university level. As a member of the Momenta Quartet, Ms. Gendron gives guest masterclass and coaching appearances on their educational-performing circuit of nearly 40 institutions ranging from public and arts schools, universities, and conservatories in the U.S. and as far afield as Bolivia, Indonesia, and Mexico. Ms. Gendron has served as guest chamber music coach for the Juilliard School’s Music Advancement Program and at the Longy School of Music; as violin specialist for student composers at Juilliard’s Evening Division, NYU, and Fordham University; and as a chamber music and contemporary music coach and performer at the annual Brandeis Composers Conference.

Ms. Gendron's extensively varied international appearances have included recitals in Sweden and at the Louvre in Paris; festivals in Russia, Finland, Indonesia, South Korea, and Jordan; and major venues across the Americas, Europe, and Asia, in collaboration with such artists as Teddy Abrams, Rachel Barton Pine, Bruno Canino, Leon Fleisher, Richard Goode, Anthony McGill, Edgar Meyer, Shlomo Mintz, Anthony Newman, Samuel Rhodes, Marcy Rosen, Gil Shaham, and Jörg Widmann, among many others. Her performances have been broadcast over radio and television in the U.S., U.K., Switzerland, New Zealand, Canada, Denmark, Japan, and South Korea. She is a past winner of the Stulberg String Competition and took 2nd Prize and the Audience Prize at the Sion-Valais (formerly Tibor Varga) International Violin Competition.

Born in the U.S. to Japanese and French-Canadian parents, and a dual citizen of the U.S. and Canada, Ms. Gendron began her violin studies at age 4 with Carl Shugart and Carol Sykes. Her subsequent training at the Juilliard School was overseen by teachers Dorothy DeLay, Won-Bin Yim, Hyo Kang, and David Chan. Ms. Gendron holds the distinction of being the first person in Juilliard’s history to be accepted simultaneously to its two most selective courses of study, both the Doctor of Musical Arts and the Artist Diploma. She holds a B.A. in Classics (magna cum laude and with Phi Beta Kappa honors) from Columbia University, and a Master of Music degree and the coveted Artist Diploma from Juilliard.
