Interview with James Wilson

The Violin Channel recently caught up with James Wilson – one of our three Artistic Directors. In this exclusive interview, James gives his insights into our unique characteristics of the innovative conductor-less ensemble – in which all 34 musicians rotate leadership roles democratically.

"What’s the Funniest Thing That Ever Happened To You on an Orpheus Tour?"

Enjoy the hilarious adventures of the Orpheus member musicians in this collection of stories on The Violin Channel.

Orpheus Chamber Orchestra’s Todd Phillips – ‘5 Recordings I Can’t Live Without’

The Violin Channel asked violinist Todd Phillips which five recordings he would take with him to a deserted island – and how the tracks have helped shape him as a musician.

The Orpheus Process

James Wilson takes you into the inner workings of Orpheus on The Violin Channel.
"We embrace the fact that our colleagues are depending on each other to identify and articulate the moments in the performance that could be more special, more dramatic, more uplifting, more depressing, more ecstatic, or perhaps just more in tune and more together. In order for the performance to be special we have to find a way to challenge and inspire each other."
