On October 25, 2025, the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra opened its concert season with Orpheus for All, a special performance at Carnegie Hall launching the ensemble’s new initiative to make concerts more accessible to all New Yorkers — with every ticket offered free of charge. WQXR is proud to bring this landmark event to an even wider audience with a broadcast of the performance. The evening featured violinist James Ehnes in his Orpheus debut, performing two French showpieces: Saint-Saëns’s Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso and Chausson’s Poème. Orpheus also presented a bespoke arrangement of Debussy’s Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun, along with the New York premieres of a chamber symphony based on Ravel’s Piano Trio in A Minor and Jessica Meyer’s Cartes Postales.
